SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway expands with new speculative builds

Further development at the East Midlands Gateway warehouse park has now begun with the first 220,000 sq ft shed - a speculative build - anticipated to be ready for occupation by October.

The 700-acre SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway – just off the M1 is already home to DHL, Amazon, Very, XPO Logistics and Kuehne and Nagel.

Adjacent to East Midlands Airport, it is served by its own rail freight interchange to make air freight distribution even more straightforward.

The logistics park sits inside a new 'freeport' which amongst other benefits gives business planning and tax incentives.

Andrew Pilsworth, managing director of national logistics at SEGRO, said: “This speculative development is really exciting, as it highlights our confidence in the ongoing demand for well located, connected, modern space in the East Midlands and underpins the importance of logistics.

“Including this speculative build, we currently have four units under construction, after which the park will be nearly 75 per cent full.

“We’ll be working hard over the coming months to secure customers for the spec build and the remaining 1.5 million sq ft of space to ensure that SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway can continue to play a key role in creating jobs and economic growth in the region.”
